Scone RSL hosted the Regional 5 Championship Play-offs over four days, with the visiting sides being compiled from Newcastle and District and Hunter River District.
In the singles, it proved to be a case of youth trumping experience as rising star Molly Wilton, from Raymond Terrace, beat Aberdeen’s crafty customer Janine Katon.
“I’m really looking forward to the state finals now after a hard win in Scone,” Milton said.
Despite the loss, Katon bounced back to win the mixed pairs with husband Ken.
Runners-up were East Maitland’s Sandra Brock and Corey McFadyen.
The senior pairs went to East Cessnock, who defeated Muswellbrook RSL, while East Maitland beat Raymond Terrace in the open pairs.
In the senior fours, Soldiers Point proved too strong for Muswellbrook RSL.
The open fours went to Raymond Terrace, which beat Kurri Kurri.
The triples final was being played on Thursday afternoon.
Special guests at the tournament included Regional 5 representative Tanya Jory, and representatives from all three districts.
Winners will now compete in the state finals at Tuncurry in October.
