But, there is still plenty of work to do, according to club secretary David Casson.
Even with one round remaining, against Greta Branxton on Saturday, Scone sits atop both the first grade and women’s league tag competition tables – and can’t be usurped.
And, to cap off a strong season, the Thoroughbreds’ reserves and under-18s will join their colleagues in the upcoming play-offs.
“It’s definitely been a good year … so far,” Casson said.
“The first grade outfit has only dropped one match while the women are undefeated.
“The reserves are currently second on the ladder and the under-18s could register the same placing with a victory on the weekend.
“Scone also comfortably won the Group 21 club championships – and we’re very pleased with that.”
However, Casson said the players were not getting ahead of themselves.
“We know the job’s not done yet,” he told The Advocate.
“The memories of last year remain, when Denman upset us in the decider.
“So, to use a cliché, we’re taking each game as it comes.
“And, our first priority is Greta Branxton on Saturday.
“Even though the women’s league tag side hasn’t been beaten in two seasons, this weekend is a test for them, too.
“No-one is taking anything for granted.
“Plus, it’s a whole new ball game when it comes to the play-offs.”
Casson believes the lessons learnt in 2015 would hold the Thoroughbreds in good stead.
“We qualified for four grand finals last year,” he said.
“But, only picked up two premierships.
“While that was terrific for the club, the first grade loss hurt us most.
“The boys will be doing everything they can to avoid that feeling again.”
