The inter school event at White Park is set to include Calf Roping, Station Hack, Pleasure Hack, Working Horse and Show Jumping.
Scone Grammar School’s Anne Davies said there had been interest from as far as Armidale, Newcastle, and Spring Ridge.
“It’s a first for a school event,” she said.
“We’re really looking at the safety aspect here.
“Rather than have fast events we will have utility ones, which will look at how well children can complete tasks.
“A lot of the kids are excited to be able to showcase skills that they’re not usually able to at a typical school sports day.
“The Australian Stock Horse Society has given us fantastic support and we’ve got great sponsors.
“We hope it will be even bigger and better next year; maybe it’ll become a two-day event instead of one.”
The Stockman’s Challenge will start at 9am.
