As a parent I love school holidays and the Shire present a fantastic opportunity to visit your local library with activities constantly being planned and with air conditioning on full blast so parents and children can escape the heat with a good book and some relaxation.
With five Libraries in our magnificent Shire we are truly lucky. Keep using these facilities.
Staff at Council are busy preparing for the Australia Day celebrations which are almost upon us and this gives us a great chance to celebrate what living in the greatest country in the world means to us.
Throughout the Upper Hunter, Council will be hosting awards ceremonies and Australia Day
Ambassadors will be giving presentations. And if that’s not enough for you to celebrate the greatest country on earth then the Merriwa, Murrurundi and Scone town pools will be open with free admission at designated times.
Congratulations to all the nominees and we will see you on January 26.
If you are sick of watching tennis and wouldn’t mind playing a few matches yourself, on Tuesday, January 24 from 6pm till 7.30pm, twilight tennis at Aberdeen has been organised by Council’s Sports participation officer.
All ages and abilities are welcome, it’s free and there will be racquets and balls to use if you don’t have your own. Please book with Council by calling us on 6540 1100.
There is much work to do this year so I am going to get back to it. As always if you have anything you would like to discuss please feel free to email, ring me or just stop me in the street.
Again have a happy and prosperous New Year and let’s work together to help the Upper Hunter Shire prosper.
