The ‘Run for Olivia’ will be held on March 11 at Bill Rose Sports Complex as part of International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations.
At the initiative of the Scone Horse Trials organising committee, and with the support of the Inglis family, Equestrian NSW has set up the Olivia Inglis Foundation to fund safety initiatives in the sport and provide training opportunities for young riders.
It was established in memory of Olivia, who tragically died at the 2016 Scone Horse Trials while competing.
Scone Horse Trials vice-president Kiwa Fisher encouraged people to get behind the initiative.
“The Scone Horse Trials committee is very touched that the wider community has chosen to support the Olivia Inglis Foundation and would like to encourage sports and community groups, schools, pony clubs, preschools, families and friends to get behind this great initiative,” he said.
The fun run is being supported by Scone Horse Trials, Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Upper Hunter Shire Council, MacCallum Inglis and Scone Sports Store.
Registration is only $5 per person or $10 for a family of four (two adults and two kids under 12 years). All proceeds from registration fees goes towards the Olivia Inglis Foundation.
Upper Hunter Shire Council is organising both the fun run and a market day, which will include food stalls, live music and kids activities including laser tag and feature ‘Sparkles the Clown.’
Registration to participate in the fun run and sponsorship forms are available at council’s Administration Centre in Scone, at Scone Sports Store and the Scone Visitor Information Centre, or you can download it via council’s website.
You can also register on the day at 7.30am. The fun run starts at 8am and markets and entertainment from 8.30am.
There are some great prizes to be won on the day for first past the finishing line as well as raffles and prizes for the participant who raises the most money through sponsorship.
