A TALENTED contingent from Scone Swimming Club did the town proud at the New England and North West Swimming Championships at Tamworth on the weekend.

The youngsters revelled in all disciplines, from backstroke to breaststroke, freestyle to butterfly.
Scone was just one of the 22 clubs to take part in the two-day event, along with the likes of Moree, Inverell, Glen Innes, Narrabri, Denman, Muswellbrook, Werris Creek, Gunnedah, Bingara, Armidale and Wee Waa.
The championships are regarded as the final chance for swimmers to qualify for the Country Titles later this month.
Hunter Ryan, Ebony Taylor, George Patterson, Andrew Crowther, Indyana Taylor, Max Patterson, Isabella Henderson and Joshua Crowther led the local charge, with top three placings in their respective races.
Ryan won the boys’ 11 years’ 50m butterfly in a time of 36.89, and finished second in the 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley (IM).
Taylor sizzled in the girls’ 16 years and over 50m butterfly to claim a victory in 32.35 as well as the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m IM.
She secured second in the 100m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke, too.
Patterson registered 40.03 to triumph in the boys’ eight years and under 50m freestyle, and also picked up first in the 50m backstroke.
Henderson cleaned up in the girls’ nine years 50m backstroke, recording 47.59.
Max Patterson also placed his name on the winners’ list, taking out the boys’ 10 years’ 50m breaststroke.
