It’s this sentiment that will see Victorian farmer Tom Crawford make a 10-hour trek to the Upper Hunter next weekend.
In recent months, the Where There’s A Will Foundation has lifted awareness of mental health and suicide prevention.
As a result, the local organisation’s important message is close to Mr Crawford’s heart.
So much so, he will travel more than 900 kilometres to take part in Belltrees and Rouchel’s charity cricket match on Saturday, February 18.
Mr Crawford says the death of his two older brothers, Andrew and Jonathon, within the space of a few years is the reason behind his commitment to the cause.
“I have gotten very passionate about mental health and suicide prevention,” he says.
“Andrew took his own life in February 2011 and Jonathon did likewise in March three years later.
“I like the idea of Where There's A Will getting out to schools and building resilience and confidence in kids that might be at risk.
“I think the ages from 13 to 17 can be a tough few years for a lot of teenagers.
“I'm keen to find out more about Where There's A Will, to perhaps take some ideas home to help in my local community and my uni course, and to further enhance my mental health knowledge.”
Mr Crawford is no stranger to the area, having a strong affiliation with the Upper Hunter community.
“I spent a little bit of time in Scone in 2016, and have stayed with family friends near Nundle,” he says.
“That's when I found out about the organisation and I gather it’s [Scone] a bit like towns around where I live.
“Everyone pitches in together and helps each other.
“I think people in rural areas are at risk of mental health issues as occupations like farming can be a tough lifestyle.”
Buses will be running to Belltrees from Scone on the day, departing at 11.30am and 1pm from Liverpool Street, opposite Golden Fleece Hotel, and returning after the cricket.
Auctions and raffles are also expected to take place as part of the fundraising efforts.
Bus bookings are essential by this Sunday.
