And, while early childhood music classes dramatically help when learning an instrument later in life, the lessons help babies in a variety of ways.
On Tuesday afternoon, Muswellbrook babies, ranging in age from newborn to 12 months, attending a Kindermusik class with one of their parents.
Session facilitator Dr Katrina Grabham said bonds were formed between babies and parents, not to mention the interaction between babies in the program.
“A lot of what we do is going to help support a baby’s development,” she said.
“It can be really beneficial for parents and babies to work on their relationship.
“At the moment, our unit is focused on play.
“It is encouraging and teaching parents to play with their babies.”
The Kindermusik curriculum varies depending on the age of participants.
In Kindermusik’s music-and-movement classes, children experience music of varying styles, genres, and cultures.
They interact with other children and engage in movement, rhythm, and vocal activities.
