And, the Student Representative Council (SRC)’s value was reinforced by relieving principal Deb Fisher during an induction assembly at Scone Public School on Tuesday morning.
“It’s a great breeding ground for future leaders,” she said.
“They present in front of others, ask for feedback and help promote school spirit.
“The SRC also contributes to the decision-making of the school in a lot of different ways like fundraising, the buddy bench, playground equipment, and each year they have a charity that they pick.
“Last year they also decided to have speakers all around the school and played music rather than bells to get students to come back to class.”
Special guests at the induction included Scone High School principal Lindy Hunt and captain Kirsten Smith, as well as deputy mayor Maurice Collison.
The SRC meets at the library every Thursday at 11.15am to discuss issues with coordinators Karen Marshall and Kimberly Newling.
