It will also be rolled out in Merriwa and Aberdeen during spring.
This free program was developed by the University of Newcastle and is made possible thanks to funding from NSW Department of Family and Community Services.
eCoFit is a group-based outdoor gym program with personal trainers and a smartphone App to help you get fit and lose weight.
The program is open to anyone over 55 years of age, who wants to be more physically active and has a smartphone.
Participants will attend six group based sessions beginning in April and also complete their own training using the eCoFit App on their phone.
The group sessions will be based at Wilson Memorial Oval in Murrurundi and Bill Rose Sports Complex in Scone.
The only other obligation is to attend three assessments of how the program is working, which will involve body and weight measurements.
These assessments will be held at Murrurundi RSL Hall and Scone Senior Citizens’ Centre in April, June and September – and the results will contribute to research by the University of Newcastle.
