The 26-year-old, who works at Elders in Scone, reached the tournament for the first time after finishing runner-up in the state event last year.
He will go up against seven other contestants for the chance to qualify for the International Livestock Auctioneer Championship at the Calgary Stampede in Canada.
“That’s the dream,” he says.
In order to win the national crown, Zac must sell three lots while being judged by a panel of respected auctioneers within the industry.
He will be marked on diction, values, voice and manner, as well as his presence and unique style.
“I’ve been in two state competitions, but this is my first national one,” he says.
“We are given three steers on the morning of the show and then have a small amount of time to find out as much as possible from the owners.
“There are hundreds of people watching and there is a live stream on the internet, so the pressure is on.”
Zac says he is grateful for the guidance and support he has received during his time in the industry.
“I’d like to thank Peter Sawyer and all of the team at Elders Scone, and also Elders Dubbo, for giving me a start and pushing me along,” he says.
“[Apart from them], my parents and girlfriend have also backed me the whole way.
“And, I want to thank vendors for selling livestock weekly at Scone and buyers for supporting me.”
Zac will be competing on the first day of the show, April 6, from midday.
