Based on extraordinary true events in Tasmania and India, the uplifting epic story also boasts the talents of Dev Patel, David Wenham and Rooney Mara.
In 1986, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train, which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family.
He must learn to survive alone in Calcutta, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple.
Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and his first home.
This award-winning film was nominated for six Oscars.
It has also received much praise, with The Hollywood Reporter describing it “as enthralling as it is emotional”.
Lion, rated PG, will screen this Friday, April 28, from 7.30pm at Scone Films’ pop-up cinema at the Senior Citizen’s Centre, Oxford Road.
Entry is open to all at $12.
There is limited seating, so to be sure of entry, advance tickets can be purchased from Hunt a Book, Scone.
