Lee Watts, President of the Scone Horse Festival Committee, welcomes you to the nation’s only multi-day horse festival where 11 days of entertainment await in the Upper Hunter.
“One day is simply not enough to enjoy everything on offer,” Mrs Watts said. “This year’s highlights include the Horse Festival Ball, hosted by the Australian Stock Horse Society, tentpegging, vaulting, farriery, art shows, antique fairs, poetry, sheepdog trials and, of course, the exciting Charity Rodeo.
“The Horse Festival Parade on Saturday May 6, sponsored by Scone Equine Hospital, is certainly not to be missed. A true feature of the festival and enduring family favourite, it continues to attract thousands every year to our small town of Scone.”
Situated in the Upper Hunter, amongst fertile thoroughbred country, Scone is the perfect backdrop to host Australia’s equine enthusiasts.
This year’s festival promises to delight with the 2017 theme – ‘May the horse be with you’ – recently announced; encouraging attendees, participants and local shop owners to express their own creativity with dress and decorations.
“More than 10,000 racegoers are also anticipated to dress up for this year’s Scone Cup – the richest country racing carnival in Australia – before the festival closes with a dramatic fireworks display following the Scone McDonalds Picnic by the Lake at Lake Glenbawn,” Mrs Watts said.
