David Gatwood, general manager of the Australian Stock Horse Society, invites you to attend this special event which formally opens the 11-day horse festival in the Upper Hunter.
“The Horse Festival Ball is one of the first official functions of the Scone Horse Festival each year,” Mr Gatwood said. “It’s an opportunity for patrons to dress up and enjoy an evening of entertainment, including a three-course meal, fine wine and live band.
“A lucky door prize will be drawn on the night and raffle tickets will be available with great prizes on offer. The Horse Festival Ball is becoming more popular each year and I hope you too will join us for this fun occasion in the heart of Scone.”
Scone and the Upper Hunter region has been an integral part of the Australian Stock Horse Society from its inception.
“Since 1971, the Australian Stock Horse Society head office has been situated in Scone – Australia’s Horse Capital,” Mr Gatwood said. “As a breed society, we’re proud to support this unique Horse Festival that showcases all breeds of horses, including the Australian Stock Horse.”
The Australian Stock Horse Society is currently hosting a ‘Horses at War’ exhibit which commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Beersheba. The exhibit will be open Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm at 48 Guernsey Street, Scone during the festival.
“Many Australian Stock Horse bloodlines have descended from Australia’s own war horse and their influence is still seen. Australian Stock Horses are talented performance horses and you’ll be able to witness them in action during this year’s festival.”
The 2017 ball takes place from 7.30pm at Scone Sporties – formerly Scone Golf Club. Dress code is lounge suit. Bookings are essential.
“I’d like to thank Scone Sporties for hosting the Horse Festival Ball again this year and local band ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ who’ll get everyone on their feet,” Mr Gatwood said.
