Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said work had been temporarily suspended to minimise impact on motorists during the Scone Horse Festival and the Darley Scone Cup Carnival.
“This work will be carried out on the travel lanes and road shoulders at seven sites between Aberdeen and Wingen,” he said.
“It involves improving line marking, upgrading safety barriers, strengthening the road and installing new signs at some intersections.
“Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm during the week and between 8am and 6pm on Saturdays until late June, weather permitting.
“For the safety of workers and motorists, lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit will be in place and may affect travel times.
“Access to properties in the project area will be maintained at all times.
“Motorists are advised to follow the direction of traffic control and signs and keep to the reduced speed limits.
“I would like to join with Roads and Maritime Services in thanking motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.”
