Start Up Mum is specifically-designed to support mothers who are already in business or looking to start one.
The organisation provides networking, learning and backing online, on the website, in a private Facebook group and offline at local chapters around the country.
Founder of The Natural Wellbeing Company Amy Louise Beaman will bring the unique concept to Scone as a local host.
She’s hoping it’ll kick-start lots more mum-made businesses as well as offer support to those already established.
“I’m looking for local mums who are either in business, or just thinking about it, to come along to the next chapter event at The Nook, Shop 2A Campbells Corner, on May 29 from 10.30am to 12.30pm,” she said.
“Children are also welcome.
“And, best of all, it is free to attend.”
Start Up Mum founder Michelle Smith started her own business while she was pregnant with her daughter, now four.
After 16 years in the corporate world, she saw an opportunity to be her own boss, set her own hours and spend more time with her daughter while still generating an income.
Navigating the minefield of setting up a business and the isolation of working from home, Ms Smith looked to join a business network for support and advice.
But, she needed one where she could bring her daughter along.
Finding nothing, she decided to create one.
She officially launched Start Up Mum in January 2016 with the first chapter on the Central Coast.
Almost 18 months later, the community has 11 chapters across Australia and an online fraternity of more than 5500 business mums.
