But, the 2016 defending premiers, a new-look Thoroughbreds outfit, were far from disgraced.
Singleton got away to a flyer, thanks to Fisher-Webster, but Scone rallied late with a couple of much-needed tries.
The Greyhounds led 22-12 at the break – and went on with the job in the second period to prevail 32-18.
Both sides head into round seven next weekend.
