The local pub recently coordinated a Calcutta and auction, which put a further $3500 into the group’s coffers.
More than 300 people attended the annual function, now in its fifth year.
“It was bigger and better than previous ones,” Friends of Strathearn president Yvonne McCready said.
“And, Ian’s been kind enough to put this on for us.
“Without him, it wouldn’t happen.
“He’s a very generous man in the community.
“Ian and his staff raise money for many organisations in the town.
“So, this is our chance to thank him.”
The group’s members play an active role in fundraising efforts within the Upper Hunter so they can continue providing much-needed equipment for the residents of Strathearn aged care.
“We’ve provided plenty of things over the years, including beds, mattresses and wheelchairs,” Mrs McCready said.
“Events like the Calcutta and auction are extremely important to us.”
The Friends of Strathearn will now turn their attention to a mid-year function, on July 21, at Strathearn.
