The local organisation boasted a big number of players at the recent NSW Country Championships, with captain Bailey Park, Dan O’Regan, Josh Crowther, Hunter Ryan, Archie Brooker, Cody Grimes, Jimmy White and Charlie Richardson taking the field for the Central North under-12s, Jack Teague, Jack Faulkner, Jack Grimes and Nick Adkins in the under-13s, and Connor Edwards and Aiden McGuinness in the under-16s.
Add to that, another seven youngsters - Clayton Porter, Max Patterson, Harry Faulkner, Matty Edwards, Callan Winter, Will Crompton and Daniel Crowther - who will don the region’s under-11 jumpers at the upcoming State Championships.
That’s a total of 21 from a talent pool of 135 within the Brumbies’ ranks.
“It’s a record number by far,” Scone Junior Rugby Club president Renee Park said.
“To have that many players in the rep teams is a fantastic achievement.
“It’s even more impressive when you consider Scone is the bottom end of the Central North zone, which means there is a lot of distance to travel.”
Park puts the club’s success down to a couple of factors.
“The consistency in the coaching – and the mentors’ dedication to the sport,” she said.
“They’ve been with the kids from the under-6s and under-8s.
“Let’s not forget the parents either.
“They have to travel [those long distances], too.
“It’s a big commitment.
“Sometimes you’re on the road for three-to-four hours, just for a gala day.
“The hard work has definitely paid off for those players.
“We’re proud of all of them.”
Next on the agenda is the State Championships on the June long weekend.
Central North’s under-11s, coached by Scone’s Angus Patterson, will tackle rivals at North Sydney, while the Warren Park-led under-12s head to Camden.
Ironically, Patterson and Park co-coach the Brumbies’ under-12 side.
“We expect it to be tough,” Park said.
“It’s the best of the best.
“We know we’ll suffer some losses but I think we’ll chalk up a few wins.
“However, the experience they gain [in Sydney] will be invaluable.”
