The NSW Government’s 2017-18 Budget included a further $250,000 to complete construction of the facility.
The additional funding will be used to finish the building, which will include training facilities, gym, separate amenities for a diverse workforce and a dual engine bay.
Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said the government continued to prioritise the men and women who protect us in the event of fires, emergencies and natural disasters.
“Our first responders do an extraordinary job, often under enormous pressure and a new fire station will give firefighters in Murrurundi the facilities they need to continue their vital work for generations to come,” he said.
Mr Johnsen confirmed the building in Mayne Street was expected to be completed later this year.
“Our firefighters are there to protect us 24/7 and they deserve the best facilities we can offer them,” he said.
“This continued investment in Murrurundi’s new fire station highlights this government’s unwavering commitment to community safety.
“The new station will be designed to ensure our firefighters are fit and ready to do their job effectively.
“I’m extremely proud the NSW Government is investing in the safety of our region by providing our firefighters with the latest equipment and resources.”
