The two schools have been partnering in the exchange program for four years and principal Mr Paul Smart says it has been a great success.
“This is the fourth group of students we have hosted from India; last year we had a group of girls. It has been a great partnership that we look forward to continuing,” he explained.
While in Australia, the students will get a taste of the country with a trip to Ag-quip planned for next month as well as a tour of local horse studs.
The boys have recently traveled to Newcastle for a geography field trip and will be treated to a range of activities and plenty of sight-seeing over the next two months, including an upcoming visit to Sydney and the possibility of a ski trip.
Welham Boy’s School in Dehradun, India, is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, with students from varying backgrounds and from many different parts India and beyond attending.
Sixteen-year-old Vandit Khandelwal comes from Agra in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state, home to the iconic Taj Mahal.
“We chose to come to Scone Grammar School for the different cultural experiences that life in Australia has to offer,” he said.
“We hope to learn from the good things that are put into place here and implement them at home, too.”
Fellow student, 16-year-old Mudhan Tulsyan admits that he hopes to gain a different experience of life down under.
“I’m most looking forward to playing some rugby,” he exclaimed.
The boys admit that school here is a lot more relaxed and said they were enjoying the beautiful weather among other things.
“Back home we play two hours of sport every morning before class at 7.40am,” said 15-year-old Kunden Jindal.
“We also play another two hours in the afternoon,” the boys admitted.
The trio is being hosted by families in Scone and said they were settling in nicely and enjoying the local food and hospitality.
