With fireworks, motorbike stunts and lawnmower racing some of the new attractions added this year – onlookers can expect a traditional show with a twist.

Show president Pat Ryan said the weekend remains one of the more thriving traditional country shows that are left thanks to new initiatives that are introduced each year.

“Some of the new attractions include motorcycle stuntman Epic Darren, lawnmower racing and a bushwackers challenge giving visitors the chance to experience a day in the life of a jackaroo,” he said. 

“Sydney Royal Showgirl winner Maisie Morrow from Merriwa will open the show for us on Saturday the 16th at 3pm and for the first time in a few years the fireworks display will be brought back at 7pm with live entertainment following.”

Sticking true to tradition, the show is also a celebration of the town’s rich agricultural history and this year will be no exception with pristine show cattle, sheep, poultry and produce.

“There will be all the traditional events such as show jumping, horses, stud sheep, prime cattle and this year there will be 180 steers sponsored by Woolworths,” Pat Ryan said.

“In a continuation of recent showground improvements we have upgraded all the facility’s electricity in the lead up to the event.”

With spring creeping closer the beloved family event is just around the corner – the show will kick off on Saturday September 16 with events spread out over the weekend.

Gates will open at 8:30am daily with a 2 day pass $30 a family, a family one day pass is $20, or $10 for adults and $5 per child.
