The 19-year-old will fly out at the end of next week after being selected to play representative field hockey for Converse College, a women’s college in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The budding hockey star was selected for the college’s inaugural hockey team and awarded a scholarship after being picked up through a scouting program in the United States.
And, hockey isn’t the only thing on the career focused teen’s mind – she is also looking to pursue a career in physical therapy, something she says has been her focus for a while.
“I will be completing my physical therapy degree at Converse College also, that’s been a career goal of mine for quite some time,” Rossington said.
Rossington’s hockey pursues have taken her outside of Scone, playing in Maitland, Newcastle and First Grade at the Northern Inland Academy of Sport in Tamworth.
But nowhere quite as far as South Carolina, where she will put her skills to the test and have access to state of the art training facilities.
“I’m pretty nervous but I’m so excited to be over there – I’ve been playing hockey since I was five in Scone so it’s always been a passion of mine,” she said.
