And, with entries now open the school is already preparing for this years’ installment which will begin at 11am on Friday September 1 at Murrurundi Public School.
Coordinator Kathy Randell said the ‘Scarecrow Day’ began in 2015 as an extension of the school’s environmental program.
“Last year 92 Scarecrows were entered which was fantastic – we would love to see even more entered this year,” she said.
The day features a barbecue lunch, games and entertainment by students as well as the major attraction – a Scarecrow display for families and the whole community to enjoy.
Giving the day an old fashioned twist senior students will also host a lemonade stand and an ice cream parlor.
Principal Leeanne Batho said excitement for the day is building as students start to put together their scarecrow designs.
“It is wonderful to have such wonderful community support for our events and we invite families, community members, community groups and businesses to participate by making a Scarecrow, or simply by joining us on the day,” she said.
Entries for Scarecrow Day close on Wednesday August 30 at 3.30pm with entry fee $5 per scarecrow.
Entry forms are available from the school office or via their school website.
