The family day care educator this year celebrates 25 years of providing early education to families in the Upper Hunter.
And, this week her work has been recognised among the best in the business.
Lindy was announced the winner of the 2017 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards for the Newcastle, Maitland and Hunter region – now placing her in the running to be named as a national finalist.
The awards, organised by Family Day Care Australia (FDCA) acknowledge the incredible work and vital role that day care educators play in the lives of families around the country.
Lindy’s Learning Centre in Scone, registered through Holistic Family Day Care offers educational learning programs for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
Lindy said to be nominated for such a prestigious award is hugely gratifying.
“To actually win the FDCA Educator of the Year for the Newcastle, Maitland and Hunter region is a huge accomplishment, I’m just so delighted and a little overwhelmed to be honest,” she said.
Lindy believes a genuine love for what you do underpins what makes a successful childcare educator.
“In an industry where there are so many dedicated and amazing educators it’s really quite humbling to receive the award.”
“From past to present, educator colleagues, children, families and scheme management – I thank you for sharing my journey,” she said.
National finalists will be announced on September 25, with the National Educator of the Year to be announced at the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards Gala Dinner on October 28.
