Steve Morse hits hole-in-one at Scone Golf Club

ANOTHER great day for golf was enjoyed by a very good field of men at the Scone Golf Club on Saturday.

Steve Morse had the highlight shot of the afternoon when he aced the 128m second hole.

This was his first ever hole-in-one and closely follows his first eagle in the final of the Kevans Knockout.

It is likely that this will be the last hole-in-one ever on the current Scone course layout, unless someone accomplishes the feat this week.

Well done Steve Morse.

The event was an interesting 18-hole ambrose 4BBB Stableford for Paul and Liz Smart’s trophy.

Scott Lye and Red Palmer were the winners with 51 points, and runners up went to Paul Smart and Justin Smart with 50 points.

The ball winners were: Steve Morse and Alan Wood, Phil McGuirk and Gordon Halliday 48, John Roe and Jack Tilse 47, Geoff Barton and Garry Taylor, Jim Hobbs and Matt Hobbs 46, Les Cottam and Mick Alsleben, Clayton Rogers and Derek Field all on 45 points.

The hard luck stories of the day go to Charlie Manning and Phil McGuirk who both landed shots on the 2nd/11th at 0.30 metres and 0.89 metres respectively, to share the jackpot of one ball with Morse.

Glen Tarrant won the 8th/17th NTP at 2.37 metres.

On Thursday, September 7, the ladies played an 18-hole stableford for Sarah Howey’s Trophy.

The winner was June Jukes who had 35 points while the runner-up, Judy Carmody, had to edge out two others on a countback on 34 points for the prize.

Jo Brown won the NTP on the 17th and balls went to June Jukes 35, Judy Carmody, Annie Woods and Jo Brown 34 points.

The lady golfers will play an 18-hole three-person ambrose on Thursday, September 14, for Jo Brown, Ann Cameron and Annie Woods’ Trophy.

All players are welcomed to play in the final game on the current course on Saturday, September 16.

It will be an 18-hole four-person ambrose and golfers and non-golfers are encouraged to come along and farewell the layout.

Two shot gun starts will be held at 7.30am and 12.30pm.

All interested members are invited to come along to a presentation regarding the new course by the design and construction team in the evening.
