And, with Mental Health Month returning in October, there will be a number of opportunities for Scone residents to learn more.
Good SPACE is an organisation which aims to prevent suicide through community education; as well as linking people to services, and participates in relevant community events across the region.
The not-for-profit organisation will host ASIST workshops in Scone to help the local community.
In ASIST workshops, people learn to apply a suicide intervention model.
It also helps caregivers recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide, before exploring how to connect with them.
Workshop features include presentations and guidance from two LivingWorks registered trainers; a scientifically proven intervention model; • powerful audiovisual learning aids; group discussions; skills practice and development; and a balance of challenge and safety.
The program will be at the Upper Hunter Shire Council administration building, 135 Liverpool Street, Scone, on November 15 and 16.
Starting at 9am, the event, valued at $450, will conclude at 5pm; and cost $110, including GST.
Register before November 10 to make sure you don’t miss out.
