The triumph saw Manly take out the 2017 Holden Cup premiership in a dominant display at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.
Although the side trailed early, the Sea Eagles responded in the best possible fashion in the second half, scoring the match-winner in the final minutes.
The 19-year-old Manly halfback was also awarded the Jack Gibson Medal for man of the match after his involvement in two tries in the first period that led to the comeback.
The commanding performance was a continuation of last week’s 34-18 under-20’s preliminary final victory over St George Illawarra where Cust had a hand in two tries, scoring three himself.
Manly entered the encounter as underdogs after finishing the home and away season in eighth spot.
It was a brilliant curtain-raiser to the main NRL fixture featuring the Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys.
