A fenced off-leash dog park could soon be added to the park that is set to undergo massive changes.
The Upper Hunter Shire Council announced this week it has put the draft plans for display on their website, and is looking for community feedback.
Roads and Maritime Services’ proposed route for the Scone bypass directly impacts many of the current facilities at the complex, cutting through the grounds and impacting on the playground, exercise equipment, two twilight hockey fields and two netball courts.
Upper Hunter Shire Council has announced that the upgrading and replacement of the facilities were part of a compensation package negotiated by Roads and Maritime Services.
Perhaps one of the main changes to directly impact on the Bill Rose Sports Complex is the addition of an off-leash dog park.
The park currently doesn't have one and the new upgrade will mean it will be fenced, allowing pet owners to let their dogs run off the leash in the park.
Other notable upgrades are a walking and cycling track around the Sports Complex and a proposed new and improved playground and picnic area.
Council has also announced better cricket nets, extra storage sheds for sporting clubs, and improved drainage and car parking.
Moir Landscape Architects and local firm, RHM Consulting Engineers, have prepared the draft plan which can be viewed at the Council’s Scone Administration Centre or on Council’s website under Hot Topics.
And, the community has just under two months to view the plans and provide feedback with Council stating that the draft plan is the starting point to discuss the development of the park with the community.
Either way, it seems the ball is rolling with construction tipped to begin in 2018.
But, it’s not too late for clubs to provide their input and become involved in the project and Council has urged interested groups contact them on 6540 1100 for more information.
Written comments on the draft Bill Rose Sports Complex Masterplans are invited by November 30 2017.
