“Everything has come together in the past couple of weeks and we are looking forward to a strong but fun competition,” Brad Smith said.

“Hopefully it will be an opportunity to build on the sport for the years to come.”

The tournament runs over November 18 and 19 and will see some of the top women’s rugby teams come face-to-face including the women’s NSW Fiji Rugby Union side and the Tuggeranong Vikings.

“Mahalia Murphy from the Australian Women’s Sevens team will be having a bit of a star appearance over the weekend also,” Brad Smith said.

“She put her hand up at the first opportunity and will be available to talk throughout the day.”

The action kicks off from 9:30am on Saturday when the Scone Brumbies will clash with Armidale.

“We encourage everyone to come along and support not only women in sport but the Country Women’s Association (CWA) who are running the canteen on the day,” Brad Smith said.

“Fifty per cent of the profit will be going back to the CWA as a way to say thank you and recognise everything they have done for the community.

“We are really pushing the social side, supporting a great cause and supporting women’s rugby in the process.”

There will be live entertainment on Saturday night at the Belmore Hotel, with competitions and prizes for the best dressed.

“A big thank you goes out to Andy at the Belmore – they have made this whole thing possible,” Smith said.

There will be a few surprises in store over the weekend, too.

“We are auctioning off an Australian Men’s Sevens jersey signed by all of the men’s sevens players,” Smith said.

The auction will take place on Saturday at 4pm.

All of the action on Sunday begins at 8:30am and concludes with a final presentation at 2:15pm.
