Congratulations to Gummun Place Hostel for winning the 2017 Prime Super Employer Excellence in Aged Care Award at the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards.
The Prime Super Employer Excellence in Aged Care Award recognises and acknowledges businesses, organisations and not for profits who have a strong focus on staff engagement, safety and well-being, training and providing staff with higher education learning opportunities and development.
Gummun Place Hostel has outshone much larger rivals to take out this award at the Gala Presentation Dinner.
The Award acknowledges aged care facilities, organisations, not for profits and businesses making a positive difference in the industry in NSW and the ACT.
Merriwa Pool
Merriwa Pool re-opened on Wednesday 8 November. The pool was closed for nine days to allow unexpected repairs to failing paintwork within the pool. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this caused.
Farewell Waid
Council’s General Manager Waid Crockett has tendered his resignation with Council and will finish up at the end of this year and take on a role back in his native New Zealand with the South Taranaki District Council as their new Chief Executive.
I have greatly enjoyed working with Waid and wish him and his wife, Soraya, all the best for the future. I am sure they will enjoy being back closer to family.
In the almost five years Waid has been General Manager he made a significant contribution to the Council, to the Shire and to our future direction.
Scone Airport
Do not be alarmed if you hear noises at Scone airport. To ensure the safety of airport users, Council is undertaking a program to disperse kangaroos from the area around Scone and Upper Hunter Airport.
A scare gun will be used at the airport until the kangaroo problem is resolved. It will be operating from approximately 6.00am to 7.30am and 6.00pm to 9.30pm. Scare guns are the most effective and harmless pest wildlife deterrent.
Council apologises for any inconvenience. Nearby residents have been informed by letterbox drop.
