A group of dedicated members who make up the Scone United Hospital Auxiliary have been quietly working away on various fundraising projects.
Their most recent fundraising collaboration has been with the hospital’s social club to purchase an Accuvien machine.
The device helps nurses and doctors draw blood more accurately by lighting up the skin – causing less discomfort to patients.
Scone United Hospital Auxiliary member Desley McPhee said they have a few more items which will soon be donated and put to good use.
“The Auxiliary has just ordered a shower chair and stroke chair for the Pye Wing,” she said.
“We are a group of 35 members, many of us long-standing.”
And, at this month’s group meeting five members were presented with their service bars as recognition of their long-standing assistance.
Desley McPhee received her 20-year bar while Helen Murphy, Marian Bettens, Audrey Knight and Stephanie McGiurk all received bars for 10 years of service.
The bars recognise the many years of selfless volunteer work the women have put into projects for the hospital.
