ANZAC Day is the solemn day of remembrance of those Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who fought and died at Gallipoli in 1915.
It is also a day of remembrance for all soldiers who have fought and died for their country and is recognised with a public holiday in Australia.
Upper Hunter Shire Councillors are proud to attend ANZAC Day events on Monday, 25 April 2016 across the Upper Hunter and encourage residents to attend and bring family.
These events are organised by local RSL branches.
ANZAC Day Ceremonies:
Aberdeen:
6am: Dawn Service – Memorial, Moray Street, followed by breakfast
8.30am: Assemble for March in Bedford St near pre-school
9.00 am: March and Remembrance Service
10.00 am: Official proceedings and brunch – Auditorium of Aberdeen RSL.
Merriwa:
5.40 am: Dawn Service at Cenotaph
7.00 am: Breakfast at Merriwa RSL

10.30 am: March from front of RSL Club to Cenotaph
10.45 am: Remembrance Service – Cenotaph.
Murrurundi:
6am: Dawn Service – Memorial Gate – Bowling Club
10.45 am: March – assemble at Adelaide Street to Murrurundi Memorial Gates
11.30am: Remembrance Service at Memorial Gates.
Scone:
6am: Dawn Service – War Memorial Swimming Pool
10.45am: March - assemble at Kelly Street at 10.30am
11am: Remembrance Service – War Memorial – Barwick House, Kelly Street.
Gundy:
9am: March from Gundy Rd to Service at Gundy RSL Hall.
