WORK will soon start on repairing and widening sections of the New England Highway between Aberdeen and Willow Tree.
Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said the NSW Government allocated $25m for a four-year program of work including $1m this financial year to start planning and delivery of the work.
“The projects will improve safety, travel times and freight efficiency while reducing maintenance costs along this section of the highway,” Mr Johnsen said.
“The work will be delivered progressively until 2019.
“The first package of work is expected to start between Haydon’s Lane and White Street at Blandford on Saturday, May 28, and be completed by mid-June, weather permitting.”
Roads and Maritime Services will continue to update stakeholders and the community as timings and potential impacts of work are confirmed.

“RMS has asked me to pass on their thanks to our Upper Hunter communities for their patience while these essential improvements are carried out along the New England Highway,” Mr Johnsen said.
