IT'S a significant milestone that not too many of us are able to reach.
Murrurundi resident Norma Kelly celebrated her 100th birthday at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday.
She has spent the past 12 years at the facility, becoming highly popular with staff members.
“The nurses and hospital community are very much her family,” manager Cate Hollis said.
“Two of our nurses, Sue Brown and Deneice Lamey, have cared for Norma since she came to the hospital and are very close to her.”
Norma was given a new outfit to wear at her party by the nurses, and she received a number of congratulatory messages from prestigious figures.
Her milestone was acknowledged by the Queen, Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Premier Mike Baird, NSW Speaker Shelley Hancock, Federal MP Barnaby Joyce, and State MP Michael Johnsen.
