A motorcyclist has died following a three-vehicle crash near Scone.
Just before 5.30am , emergency services were called to the New England Highway near the intersection of Gundy Road, following reports a motorcycle and ute had collided head-on.
A third vehicle – a white Laser hatchback – was also involved in the crash.
Paramedics attended the scene, however the male motorbike rider died at the scene.
The male drivers of the two vehicles were taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Hunter Valley Local Area Command are at the scene, with officers from Crash Investigation Unit to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The road remained closed for a number of hours on Tuesday.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The New England Highway is closed in both directions at Scone. Three vehicles, including a motorbike were reportedly involved in the accident which occurred about 5.30am on Tuesday morning.
Traffic is diverted into Gundy Road, Segenhoe Road and back to Gundy Road to return to the highway.
The highway is expected to be closed for some time. Emergency services and the crash investigation unit are at the scene.
