And, it’s safe to say the Upper Dartbrook resident has mastered the art of firing arrows – currently holding a long list of national titles including the ABA and ABA 3D, IFAA, and 3DAAA.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” Bogie said at her home “Thornthwaite” where she trains on her own shooting ranges.
She says a holiday with her nephews, who are heavily into archery, sparked the passion, and she hasn’t been able to put the bow down since.
“I guess it’s something that you are either good at or you’re not – it’s a matter of getting the right equipment and having everything set up, too.”
In 2016, she was the only female chosen to be in the Champion of Nations team for the World Field Archery Championships held in Wagga Wagga.
The competition saw Bogie named the record holder for the Animal Round in Pacific Regional Field Archery Championships (PRFAC) – a record she has since broken whilst competing at the PRFAC held in New Zealand in October this year.
But, Bogie says the achievement she holds closest to her heart isn’t the result of a single competition.
“I was truly honoured when I received the ABA National Award earlier this year,” she said.
“It was an award presented to me for my outstanding achievements throughout 2016 and only one of two awards presented by ABA.”
It’s been a big year for Bogie, but she is adamant it’s onwards and upwards from here.
Shooting from a PSE Phenom compound bow, she now has her sights set on bigger targets and is hoping to not only retain all her national titles, but improve on her personal scores.
And, her passion for archery will soon see her board a plane to beautiful South Africa.
“I am planning to compete at the next World Field Archery Championships which will be held in South Africa in 2018.”
“The nationals for ABA are going to be held in Alice Springs so that’s nine days straight of shooting – I’ll be very tired.”
And, for those interested in giving the sport a try Bogie recommends the local Lake Glenbawn Field Archers.
“They are an excellent club and hold monthly outdoor shoots on the last Sunday of each month at Lake Glenbawn State Park.”
“I’d also like to thank Benson Archery, who came on board with their support this year.”
