Australia Day awards will be presented in each region for Community Group, Citizen and Young Citizen, Achiever and Young Achiever, and in Merriwa there are awards for Sustainability in Business and Environmental Achievement.
The Upper Hunter Shire Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen are chosen from the town winners.
Presentations will be made by the Australia Day Ambassadors at the following venues:
Aberdeen: 1.00pm - Aberdeen RSL; Citizen’s Club Moray Street
- Lunch and the presentation of Australia Day Awards
- Meet the 2018 Ambassador, Mr Todd Greenberg, CEO of the National Rugby League
- Lunch is $15 per person and bookings are essential on 6543 7141
Scone: 10.30 am - Council Chambers, 135 Liverpool Street, Scone
- Our newest Australian Citizens will be welcomed in a Citizenship Ceremony
- Presentation of Australia Day Awards
- Meet 2018 Ambassador Mr Todd Greenberg, CEO of the National Rugby League
- This year’s program includes Scone RSL Pipes and Drums, Scone Singers and refreshments by Scone CWA.
Murrurundi: Events from 8.00am - Wilson Memorial Oval
- 8.00am - Murra County Markets
- 10.00am - Grand Parade starts from Rosedale Complex - remember to enter a float!
- Entertainment by Pat Drummond
- 11.00am - Australia Day Awards Ceremony with 2018 Ambassador Karen Banton CEO of the Bernie Banton Foundation.
Merriwa: From 10.00am - Merriwa Sport Club, King George V Avenue
- Meet 2018 Ambassador Catherine De Vrye, Author
- Australia Day Awards Ceremony will be followed by a free barbecue lunch and lamingtons.
