Under the guidance of coach Yvette Taylor, the squad is achieving results to be proud of – with the latest performance at the 2018 Tamworth City Long Course Qualifying Carnival no exception.
A team of 10 Scone Swimming Club members from ages 7 to 19 took to the water in Tamworth on Sunday, and Ms Taylor said it was a great success.
“Our team achieved very pleasing results,” she said.
“These kids train with me at the Scone Memorial Swimming Pool and they only have the opportunity to swim during the summer season due to the facility being outdoors.
“They have achieved brilliant results so far this season and their dedication to training and technique improvement produced more amazing personal bests at this carnival.”
Ms Taylor said 9-year-old George Patterson was excited to have achieved a personal best in the 50-metre freestyle.
“George took out first place in the 9 years boys swimming a time of 35.14,” she said.
“He now has qualified to swim at the NSW Country Championships in February.”
While the mercury peaked at a tick under 40 degrees on Sunday, the squad was well prepared, and now have their sights set on a number of upcoming carnivals.
In particular, the squad members will head to the Swimming NSW State Open Championships in Sydney from January 19 to 21 and the Swimming NSW Country regionals in Port Macquarie January 27 to 28.
“At the next couple of carnivals, some swimmers are aiming for qualifying times for the NSW Country Championships,” Ms Taylor said.
“So far Max Paterson, George Patterson, Ebony Taylor, Indyana Taylor, Hunter Ryan and Talia Bruce have all qualified for events.”
