Ten-year-old Caitlin Atkinson hosted a special class for the other kids, hoping to share her love of cooking with the other children.
For good measure, she dished up a watermelon pizza as well as a homemade pizza, which went down a treat.
“I love cooking; I do a lot of it at home,” the well-spoken lass admitted.
“It’s great to eat the food I prepare and give it to other people.
“The first thing I made with mum [Mel] was chocolate cupcakes when I was one – and I fell in love with making cakes.
“Now, I have my own cooking website and my own cupcake stand at the local markets.”
After preparing the menu, Caitlin’s lesson featured step-by-step demonstrations, which the children followed.
“The kids loved it – the [class] was very hands-on,” she said.
“We measured our own ingredients.
“They even mixed the dough [together] with their hands until it was a ball.
“Plus, it was a good chance for everyone to try different foods.
“No-one had tasted yoghurt on watermelon before.
“I really enjoyed the experience [today] – and would love to do it again at [Hunter Park Family Centre].”

The Scone Grammar School Year 5 student is keen to follow in the footsteps of inaugural MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin, who claimed the title in 2009.
“I went to Julie’s cooking class on the Central Coast [last year],” Caitlin said.
“And, I’m going to another one next week.
“I definitely want to be a chef or a cooking teacher when I grow up.
“I’m making my own recipes these days.”
Caitlin’s watermelon pizza
What you will need: watermelon – you can cut up individual watermelon pieces or do a whole watermelon pizza, depending on how many people you are sharing it with; your favourite yoghurt; a drizzle of honey or maple syrup; fruit – strawberries, kiwi fruit, banana (you can add any fruit you like, it’s your watermelon pizza)
Step 1 –
* Ask an adult to help you prepare your watermelon into slices
* Ask an adult to help you cut up your fruit ready for your pizza
Step 2 –
* Using a spoon or a spatula, spread an even layer of your favourite yoghurt onto your watermelon pieces
* Remember to leave some white space around the outside so it looks like you have a pizza crust
Step 3 –
* Layer your fresh fruit on top as you please. You can add as little or as many toppings as you like
Step 4 –
* Drizzle with honey or maple syrup for a little extra sweetness if you like
Tip: Add some shredded coconut for something special
Enjoy
