The recently built Glenbawn Cottage is a boost to the already decked out aged care facility on Gundy Road in Scone, providing an extra 16 beds.
Since the operation opened to the community in October 2016, two residential cottages have been added, housing 32 residents.
The addition of the state-of-the-art Glenbawn Cottage increases that number to three.
Residential Care Mananger at Strathearn House, Jenni Cobeanou, said the cottage will be dementia specific and provide a modern, spacious living area but also help support jobs for local people.
“We’re running an orientation for two weeks at the moment,” she said.
“As we speak there are 15 new staff undergoing training – all local people.
“Between the two sites there is over 100 staff and that will continue to grow.”
The training will run right up until January 29 when the cottage opens for use.
“There is a lot of interest at the moment but not all of the beds are filled,” Ms Cobeanou said.
“If anyone is interested and wants to come have a look they can contact Strathearn to organise a tour.”
An additional cottage upstairs, Barrington Cottage, is also on track to being fully operational later this year.
