EPA Director Hunter Region, Karen Marler said Committee members play an important role in representing the interests of upper Hunter Valley communities.
“The Committee’s role is to advise the EPA on issues relating to regional air quality management and the operation of the Upper Hunter Air Quality Monitoring Network (the Network),” Ms Marler said.
“The Network provides near real time and long-term air quality data to assist the NSW Government to plan and respond to regional air quality changes.
“Members will represent their community on air quality matters, so the EPA is seeking applications from people who can demonstrate strong local community links and an understanding of air quality issues.”
The Committee comprises 14 members who represent the coal mining and power generation industries, other industries, local government, communities, NSW Health and the Department of Planning and Environment to ensure a broad range of views and balanced approach to Network operations and the management of air quality issues.
Applications should be submitted to the EPA by 5 pm on Thursday, 25 January 2018. Successful applicants will be appointed to the Committee to November 2019.
