The picturesque ground had been out of commission for almost 12 months, due to the lack of an irrigation system.
But, thanks to the perseverance of the Muswellbrook Junior Cricket Club, Muswellbrook Shire Council intervention and a $70,000 project to rectify the problem, it was business as usual again.
And, despite the threat of showers, the under-10 fixture between Scone and the host town went off without a hitch.
The Upper Hunter Junior Cricket Association competition continues this weekend.
