A TALENTED group of young riders from the Upper Hunter have excelled at Clarendon’s 2018 State Showriding and Dressage Championships last month.

Hunter Valley Zone 7 riders were in full force for the four-day event that attracted over 250 of the best pony club riders from all over the state.
The team consists of riders from Aberdeen, Denman, Scone, Merriwa, Murrurundi and Singleton Pony Clubs.
Competitors Harrison Baxter and Paige Baxter from Murrurundi Pony Club, Emerson Mitchel and Millie Graham from Denman Pony Club and Georgia Maben from Merriwa Pony Club travelled to the the Hawksbury Showgrounds on January 24 and Murrurundi Pony Club’s Lissa Baxter said it was an extremely successful trip.
“Some of the best riders in the state compete at these championships with some age groups having close to 50 riders,” she said.
“Our riders did extremely well, with placings in a majority of the classes.
“One of the highlights was Emerson Mitchel winning Reserve Champion 11-13 Dressage Rider and Zone 7 taking out the win for the Best Presented and Fitness Check Trophy,” she said.
