It is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday in March and aims to bring together women from various race, cultures and traditions.
This year on Friday, March 2, a service will be held at St Andrew’s Uniting Church, Scone at 7pm.
The country of focus for 2018 is the Republic of Suriname – a country of approximately 540,000 inhabitants.
It lies in the North Eastern part of South America. Suriname is a diverse country with much natural beauty flora, mountains and rivers but also great a deal of mining of both Bauxite and Gold.
Violence against women and child exploitation is seen in some areas of Suriname.

Following the service supper will be served.
