The Scone High School student, whose animated offering Pokemon Battle was a finalist at the JMC Academy Martini Film Awards Sydney last year, recently captured a highly sought-after plaudit at the 2018 Bright Awards.
Created by two of Torrens University Australia’s colleges, Media Design School and Billy Blue College of Design, the Bright Awards is a rare celebration of creative craft within secondary schools around Australia, designed to highlight emerging young creative talent.
Each winner was awarded two major cash prizes: one for themselves and one for their school.
The Scone youngster cleaned up in the animation category.
Head of Jury and Director of Innovation, Industry and Employability Design Faculty Eric Thompson said the judges were blown away by the talent showcased at this year’s awards.
“The inaugural Bright Awards highlighted an amazing quantity and quality of design work from around the country,” he said.
“Some of the design outcomes and projects showcased the incredible work being done by design and art departments in all those schools that entered.
“It is a credit to the teachers and pupils that such high-quality work was submitted and the decision on the winners was no easy feat for the respective category judges.
“Congratulations to all the winners.”
