While the day is a spectacular networking and exposure opportunity for local businesses, Courtney said it’s also set to be a great day of racing.
“There will be eight races with the first at 1.45pm and the highlight being the Country Championships Preview at 5.15pm,” he said.
“Gates open at 11.30am and there is free entry.
“The club is also looking forward to its Ladies Race Day on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day.
“And, we also soon turn our attention towards the Country Championships meet on March 18, which will be a very big day with some exciting activities.
“We look forward to seeing you all there.”
Visiting trainers such as Bjorn Baker, Allan Denham, Kris Lees, Sue Grills, Alan Scorse and Paul Perry have nominated some impressive gallopers to mix it with the likes of a local contingent that includes in-form mentors Brett Cavanough, Rod Northam, Todd Howlett and Muswellbrook duo Pat Farrell and Jan Bowen.
Scorse boasts the top weight for the Norm Turner Electrical H&NWDRA Championship Preview Class 4 Handicap over 1300m with last-start winner What Could Be, to be ridden by Grant Buckley.
But, don’t discount Grills’ Under The Thumb, which has Aaron Bullock in the saddle and been placed from its past five runs.
Throw in Northam duo My Tagoson (Robert Thompson) and Remittance (Greg Ryan), as well as Michelle Fleming’s The Lion (Chris O’Brien), and it’s race that should excite the hardened punter.
