Ladies frock up to celebrate 2018 International Women's Day at Scone Race Club

“SUCCESS is the joy of what you do.”

That was the message local artist Sarah Bishop had for a packed function centre at Scone Race Club on Thursday as ladies frocked up in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Sarah joined inspirational guest speakers and fellow local women including Upper Hunter Homeless Support’s Una Garland, Scone Equine Hospital’s Catherine Chicken and Merriwa Rural Fire Brigade’s Annie Rodgers as they gave their own powerful recollections of their journeys to personal success.

A collaboration between Scone Race Club, Upper Hunter Shire Council and the Scone Chamber of Commerce, the luncheon overlooked a view of the races and beautiful surrounds, with all funds going towards women in their time of need.

Local charity and beneficiary Upper Hunter Homelessness Support provides “Survival Packs” for women coping with homelessness, trauma and domestic violence.

Also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women's Rights and International Peace, International Women's Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women's achievements throughout history and across nations.

It is celebrated in many countries around the world and is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
