And, this month, a Scone duo joined the firm’s dynasty.
Jeny and Mac Dawson have opened heir very own Ray White Rural business.
Ray White Rural chairman Paul White said Jeny and Mac have made their mark on the Scone real estate team as Dawson and Dawson Realty Pty Ltd, starting only three years ago and driving their business up 300 per cent in a year and half.
“A strong family ethos, results and commitment to service is the key characteristics we look for in our business owners,” the grandson of the original Ray White said.
“We approached Jeny and Mac after seeing the impact they had had on the Scone market over three short years.
“Their reputation in the community is exceptional.”
The district’s economy is supported by mining (biggest in the broader area) and thoroughbred racing and breeding (biggest industry locally).
The new business supports Scone and surrounds which includes seven other localities – Aberdeen, Gundy, Moonan Flat, Ellerston, Wingen. Blandford and Murrurundi, spanning about 14,000 people in total.
“The lifestyle acreage market with water, which is in high demand due to this harsh drought, is proving very hard to get hold of and in high buyer demand,” the new principal of Ray White Rural Scone, Jeny Dawson, explained.
“The residential housing market in town is subject to renewed attention and just starting to attract significant interest from investors again.
“The rental market is strengthening again too.
“Last week we had only five places on the market to rent which is unusually low, demand is outweighing supply and prices are steadily increasing as a result.
“Scone’s population of 5000 is largely a mixture of rural and horse workers.
“Predominantly from abattoirs, mines and horse studs.
“Then you have a number of those employed in support services for the community, solicitors, doctors, teachers, retail sector and airport, which is important.
“Our community is rich in horse breeding, agriculture and home to world class thoroughbred breeding and racing industry.
“We’re also home to the largest veterinary practice in the Southern Hemisphere.
“Our thoroughbred breeding industry is second only to the USA.”
Jeny said the town was an excellent option for tree-changers.
“We have four very good schools; Scone Grammar, Scone Public, Scone High and St Mary’s, and the town offers education from preschool through to TAFE,” she explained.
“Everything a new family to the country needs is in Scone.
“We have two major supermarkets, high quality restaurants, cafes, clubs and pubs, a new golf course being built which will be lovely for the area, medical practice and imaging service, hospital, ambulance, dental, podiatry, optometrist, and a very good aged care facilities.“
On the weekends, Lake Glenbawn is a popular and large recreational fishing and water skiing spot.
“Plus we’re only an hour away from Barrington Tops,” she said.
Jeny and Mac are proud locals and enthusiastic agents with a focus on service and authenticity.
Jeny was born in Scone and her family was in business here for many years in the town.
As an adult, she moved away, married an Armidale man, and moved back to Scone starting work with McCallum Ritchie (Inglis) for 12 years then Pat Gleeson Real Estate.
In 2014, she and her son Mac went out on own their own.
“Our ambition has been to build and be able to offer efficient, reliable real estate advice and service and help people as the focus,” Jeny said.
“We don’t forget about the little people.”
Ray White Rural Scone is barely open but they already have a large number of properties for sale including the old newsagency at 185 Kelly Street.
Jeny and Mac will base themselves in the main street ensuring easy accessibility for those looking to buy, sell, rent or invest as well as those just curious about the market.
