It was day-two of the Kia-Ora Youth Music Camp, and performance workshops in Taiko Drumming, Rock Ensemble, String Ensemble, Body Percussion and dance were in full swing.
The annual camp brings schools from across Scone, Aberdeen, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Cassilis and Ellerston together for intensive workshops and rehearsals before the grand finale – a concert on Friday, March 23 at Scone High School.
Camp coordinator Aaron Rothemund said students have the opportunity to rehearse with some amazing tutors and conductors.
“The camp is offered to students from year 3 through to year 12 and we have represenation from most schools in the Upper Hunter,” he said.
“The three days of intensive workshops are a great opportunity for young talent to build on their skills with a whole bunch of experienced tutors on hand – both local and from outside of the area.
“It also builds their confidence as it finishes with a big concert that always draws a crowd.”
